Mage macros

Mages wield the forces of the elements, using their deep understanding of the arcane to summon elemental minions and unleash powerful spells.

18 macros

  • #show Your Buff
    /suppressmacrofailures
    /cast @self Your Buff

@self forces a friendly ability onto you no matter what you have targeted. Far more reliable than the older trick of typing your own character name into a /target line, and it survives a character rename.

  • #show Pillaging Stone
    /suppressmacrofailures
    /cast Surging Flare
    /cast Volcanic Bomb
    /cast Earthen Barrage
    /cast Leeching Flames
    /cast Pillaging Stone
    /cast Flame Bolt*
    +3 more

This macro is designed for Archon and can be customized with your preferred DPS spells. Be mindful of the order of spells, and make sure to place Pillaging Stone at the end, as it has no recast. Off global cooldowns and ranged abilities can be placed after Pillaging Stone. This macro will suppress macro failures.

  • #show Your Ability
    /suppressmacrofailures
    /cast @focus Your Ability

Sends an ability at your focus target regardless of what you have selected. Set the tank or the enemy healer as focus and this becomes a permanent second target you can act on at will.

  • #show Your Ability
    /suppressmacrofailures
    /cast @mouseover Your Ability
    /cast Your Ability

Casts at whoever your cursor is over, falling through to your current target. Works for heals and for damage, and it is the fastest way to react to a raid frame without giving up your target.

  • #show Vile Spores
    /suppressmacrofailures
    /cast Radiant Spores
    /cast Nature's Touch
    /cast Ruin
    /cast Natural Conversion
    /cast Vile Spores
    +2 more

This macro is designed for Chloromancer and can be customized with your preferred heal spells. Be mindful of the order of spells, and make sure to place Vile Spores at the end, as it has no recast. Some spells may not heal by themselves but are included because they will proc your Life Giving Auras. This macro will suppress macro failures.

  • #show Neutral Prod
    /suppressmacrofailures
    /cast Thunder Blast
    /cast Haunting Pain
    /cast Neutral Prod

This macro is designed for Dominator and can be customized with your preferred DPS spells. Be mindful of the order of spells, and make sure to place Neutral Prod at the end, as it has no recast. This macro will suppress macro failures.

  • #show Crystalline Missiles
    /suppressmacrofailures
    /petattack
    /cast Lightning Strike
    /cast Crystalline Missiles

This macro is designed for Elementalist and can be customized with your preferred DPS spells. Be mindful of the order of spells, and make sure to place Crystalline Missiles at the end, as it has no recast. This macro will suppress macro failures and make your pet attack your target.

  • #show Your Interrupt
    /suppressmacrofailures
    /stopcasting
    /cast Your Interrupt

Cancels whatever you are casting and fires the ability immediately. Essential for interrupts and emergency cooldowns, where finishing your current cast first defeats the point entirely.

  • /mark 1

Puts a raid mark on your current target. Marks are the anchor for every @mark macro in this library, so the leader marking correctly is what makes the rest of the group’s macros work.

  • #show Plague Bolt
    /suppressmacrofailures
    /petattack
    /cast Draining Bolt*
    /cast Plague Bolt
    /cast Essence Link
    /cast Lich Form
    +2 more

This macro is designed for Necromancer and can be customized with your preferred DPS spells. Be mindful of the order of spells, and make sure to place Plague Bolt at the end, as it has no recast. Off global cooldowns and ranged abilities can be placed after Plague Bolt. This macro will suppress macro failures and make your pet attack your target.

  • #show Main Ability
    /suppressmacrofailures
    /cast Off Global Ability*
    /cast Main Ability

An asterisk after a spell name tells Rift the ability is off the global cooldown, so the macro keeps evaluating the lines below it instead of stopping there. Getting this wrong is the single most common reason a spam macro only ever fires its first ability.

  • /petpassive
    /petdefensive
    /petfollow

The three pet states that matter: passive stops it attacking, defensive lets it retaliate, and follow brings it back to you. Worth binding together for any Mage or Ranger soul with a pet.

Every calling shares the same macro syntax, so a good idea usually ports across.
